Each Day There Is a Little Love in a Book For You

$10.00

Each Day There Is a Little Love in a Book For You is an exploration through the vagaries of love and its languages – its stanzas are improvisational and often elliptical. In their different linguistic registers, the poem is neither interpretive nor analytic but “presentational”: each stanza seems to track the mind’s shifting metaphors from one moment to the next. Sometimes, the diction is fierce, sometimes tender; at other times, rational, then suddenly fantastic: “a girl hunts for a story / she hunts with her knife /she kills a thousand /creatures stabbing / the dark.” This strikingly original poem is far from the poetic commonplace as it traverses the shifting modes of feeling and perception

“This poem was composed over the course of a very cold evening. My intention was to fill an entire three-by-three-inch leatherbound book that I had received from a friend who had recently returned from India. I reasoned that it would be easier to fill the book in a series of small poems conceived in one evening — one mood, by one moon — than to approach it with the sporadic attention a regular notebook receives.”
